Additionally, screen and rail protection evolved as a result of the NIOSH Alert of 1989 requesting assistance in 'Preventing Worker Deaths and Injuries from Falls Through Skylights and Roof Openings.'

WinGuard Fall Protection

We have developed two styles of after-market fall protection devices to meet the above OSHA Regulations: Mesh and Guardrail. These devices have been approved by both Carlisle Syntec, Inc. and Sarnafil, Inc.

  • Both systems do not penetrate the roof or skylight curb membranes thereby maintaining the integrity of the roof warranty.
  • Both systems are easy to install requiring only a crescent wrench and allen wrench
Mesh Style Fall Protection For Dome Skylights

The WinGuard mesh style skylight fall protection devices are an economical way of protecting your dome, corrugated, or standing seam skylights. Mesh fall protection are manufactured from 4 gauge, 4 inch square, hot dipped galvanized welded wire. For dome-style wire mesh, the pre-rolled wire screen is attached to the WinGuard aluminum extrusion side rail and the assembled system is clamped to the skylight with 1/2 inch stainless steel all thread. The only tools required for assembly is a 5/8 inch socket wrench. Roof top assembly time is less than 20 minutes each. Stainless steel mesh is available for corrosive applications.

Mesh Style Fall Protection for Corrugated or Standing Seam Metal Roofing Systems

Corrugated and standing seam metal roofs with skylights also utilize our mesh protection. The galvanized wire mesh panels mount to the metal roof with heavy duty clips or special seam clamps for secure attachment. For pricing, you need to supply us with the style of metal roof system you have, as well as the length, width, and quantity of the skylight panels you need to protect.

Guardrail Style Fall Protection

The patented WinGuard rail style skylight fall protection is also an economical way to protect your skylights, but without the shadows associated with the mesh style protection. Guardrail fall protection are manufactured from electro galvanized steel tube. The finish is durable and does not require paint. Light weight and easy to assemble they require only a rubber mallet, 1/2 inch wrench and 3/16 inch allen wrench for assembly tools. Roof top assembly tine is less than 30 minutes each.

The WinGuard rail style devices are perfect for use with all domed skylights especially those that have a fusible link Stainless steel rail is available for corrosive situations.
